Vehicle Access Code Programming

NOTE: Programming mode will be automatically exited when door lock control is not operated for more than 40 seconds, driver's door is closed, key is inserted in ignition switch or when 4 recognition codes are registered during programing mode.
  1. Ensure driver's door is open and unlocked. Ensure all other doors are closed. Within 5 seconds, insert key into ignition switch lock cylinder, remove it, insert it and remove it. Go to next step.
  2. Within 40 seconds, close and open driver's door 2 times. Insert key into ignition switch lock cylinder, then remove it. Go to next step.
  3. Within 40 seconds, close and open driver's door 2 times. Insert key into ignition switch lock cylinder. Cycle ignition switch at one second intervals between ON and OFF positions, for the specified number of cycles to enter appropriate programming mode:
    • Add Mode -  Cycle ignition switch one time. Remove key from ignition switch. Go to step  4.
    • Rewrite Mode -  Cycle ignition switch 2 times. Remove key from ignition switch. Go to step  4.
    • Confirmation Mode -  Cycle ignition switch 3 times. Remove key from ignition switch. Go to step  6.
    • Prohibition Mode -  Cycle ignition switch 5 times. Remove key from ignition switch. Go to step  7.
  4. Within 3 seconds, body ECU will automatically LOCK, then UNLOCK doors one time or 2 times, to indicate programming mode entered. One time indicates add mode has been entered. Two times indicates rewrite mode has been entered. Ensure the appropriate programming mode is entered, and go to next step.
  5. Within 40 seconds, simultaneously depress and hold remote transmitter LOCK and UNLOCK buttons, then release. Within 3 seconds, press any button on transmitter for more than one second, and release. Within 3 seconds, body ECU will automatically LOCK and UNLOCK doors once or twice. Once indicates transmitter has been programmed successfully. Repeat this step for any additional transmitters. Twice indicates transmitter programming was not successful. If programming was not successful, cycle ignition switch, remove key from ignition and go to step  1.
  6. Body ECU will automatically LOCK and UNLOCK doors at 2-second intervals to indicate the number of currently registered recognition codes (1-4). If there are no current registered recognition codes, door locks will automatically cycle 5 times. Confirmation is complete.
  7. Body ECU will automatically LOCK and UNLOCK doors at one second intervals 5 times to indicate prohibition mode was successfully entered.
