Test No. 16: Front Personal Light At Front Of Headliner Does Not Operate
- Check bulb in front personal light at front of headliner. See Figure. If bulb is okay, go to next step. If bulb is defective, replace bulb and recheck front personal light operation.
- Check front personal light. See FRONT PERSONAL LIGHT under COMPONENT TESTS. If front personal light is okay, go to next step. If front personal light is defective, replace light assembly and recheck front personal light operation.
- Check wiring harness and electrical connectors between front personal light and passenger's side Junction Block (J/B) Electronic Control Unit (ECU), and between front personal light and ground connection. See WIRING DIAGRAMS in ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article. Front personal light may also be referred to as personal light. Passenger's side J/B ECU is located at passenger's side of instrument panel. See Figure. If wiring harness and electrical connectors are okay, go to next step. If wiring harness or electrical connector are defective, repair as necessary and recheck front personal light operation.
- Check passenger's side J/B ECU for proper voltage and input signals. See PASSENGER'S SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT under PIN VOLTAGE TESTS. If proper voltage and input signals exist, go to next step. If proper voltage and input signals do not exist, repair as necessary and recheck front personal light operation.
- Replace passenger's side J/B ECU with a known-good passenger's side J/B ECU and recheck front personal light operation. If front personal light operates properly, original passenger's side J/B ECU was defective. If front personal light still does not operate properly, check wiring harness and electrical connectors for passenger's side J/B ECU and front personal light for intermittent problem. See WIRING DIAGRAMS in ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article. Repair wiring harness or electrical connector as necessary.
