Test No. 15: Vanity Light Does Not Operate

  1. Check bulb in inoperative vanity light. Vanity light is located on each sun visor. If bulb is okay and light does not operate, go to next step. If bulb is defective, replace bulb and recheck vanity light operation.
  2. Check vanity light. See VANITY LIGHT under COMPONENT TESTS. If vanity light is okay, go to next step. If vanity light is defective, replace vanity light and recheck vanity light operation.
  3. Check wiring harness and electrical connectors for vanity light. See WIRING DIAGRAMS in ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article. If wiring harness and electrical connectors are okay, go to next step. If wiring harness and electrical connectors are defective, repair as necessary and recheck vanity light operation.
  4. Check body ECU for proper voltage and input signals. See BODY ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT  under PIN VOLTAGE TESTS. If proper voltage and input signals exist, go to next step. If proper voltage and input signals do not exist, repair as necessary and recheck vanity light operation.
  5. Replace body ECU with a known-good body ECU and recheck vanity light operation. If vanity light operates properly, original body ECU was defective. If vanity light still does not operate properly, check wiring harness and electrical connectors for body ECU and vanity light for an intermittent problem. See WIRING DIAGRAMS in ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article. Repair wiring harness or electrical connector as necessary.
