Circuit Description
The Variable Valve Timing (VVT) sensor is a pick-up coil located in outer corner of each cylinder head, just below valve cover and uses a signal plate located on each camshaft sprocket. VVT sensors may also be referred to as camshaft position sensors. The ECM uses input signals from VVT sensors for controlling the intake valve timing. DTC is set when ECM does not receive input signal from VVT sensor with engine cranking or with engine speed more than 600 RPM. Possible causes are:
- VVT sensor circuit is open or shorted.
- Defective VVT sensor.
- Defective signal plate.
- Defective ECM.
