Camshaft Position Sensor: 4Runner

Disconnect electrical connector for camshaft position sensor. See Fig 1-Fig 3 . Remove camshaft position sensor. See CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR under IGNITION SYSTEMS in REMOVAL & INSTALLATION - V6 & V8 article.

Using ohmmeter, check resistance between electrical terminals on electrical connector for camshaft position sensor. Ensure camshaft position sensor resistance is within specification. See CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR RESISTANCE table. Replace camshaft position sensor if resistance is not within specification. See CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR under IGNITION SYSTEMS in REMOVAL & INSTALLATION - V6 & V8 article. Reinstall electrical connector for camshaft position sensor.
