Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Toyota Tundra, 2002 Toyota Tundra, and 2001 Toyota Tundra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. If ABS warning light does not light up, check and replace ABS ECU. See ABS ECU/ACTUATOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If ABS warning light remains ON, check warning light and combination meter/ABS warning light. If either are found to be faulty, replace bulb and/or combination meter. If both are in working order, check for open wiring harness/connector between GAUGE fuse and ABS ECU.
  2. Check for DTCs. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTC is output, repair indicated circuit. If no DTC is output, check for short circuit in wiring harness/connector between GAUGE fuse and ABS ECU. IF short is found, repair and/or replace wiring harness or connector. If wiring harness proves to be OK, replace ABS ECU. See ABS ECU/ACTUATOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
