Confirmation Driving Pattern

  1. Connect hand-held tester or OBD II scan tool to DLC3. See Figure.
  2. Record DTC and freeze frame data.
  3. Use hand-held tester to set to check mode. See CHECK MODE CODE RETRIEVAL  under RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES.
  4. Drive vehicle several times with engine speed, load and it's surrounding range shown with ENGINE SPD, CALC LOAD in freeze frame data or MISFIRE RPM, MISFIRE LOAD in data list. If you have no hand-held tester, turn ignition switch OFF after symptom is simulated once. Then repeat simulation process again. In order to memorize DTC of misfire, it is necessary to drive around MISFIRE RPM, MISFIRE LOAD in following data list. See DRIVING PATTERN  table.
    DRIVING PATTERN

    Engine Speed Time
    Idling 3 Minutes 30 Seconds Or More
    1000 RPM 3 Minutes Or More
    2000 RPM 1 Minute 30 Seconds Or More
    3000 RPM 1 Minute Or More
  5. Check whether there is misfire or not by monitoring DTC and freeze frame data and then record them.
  6. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 5 seconds.
