Confirmation Driving Pattern

  1. Connect hand-held tester to DLC3. See Figure. If you do not have a hand-held tester, perform steps 2-5, turn ignition switch off, and perform steps 2-5 again.
  2. Switch hand-held tester from normal mode to check mode.
  3. Start engine and let engine idle for 60 seconds or more.
  4. Drive vehicle at 25 MPH or more for 40 seconds or more.
  5. Let engine idle for 10 seconds or more.
  6. Perform steps 3 and 4 12 times. If there is a malfunction, MIL will illuminate during step 5. If the conditions in test are not strictly followed, detection of malfunction will not be possible.
