Section 20 (Automatic Transmission Floor Shift Cable Control Shift (ATM)): Replacement

SEPARATE BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSY CENTER (See REPLACEMENT )
REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSY CTR (See REPLACEMENT )
REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX (See REPLACEMENT )
REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER CENTER (See REPLACEMENT )
REMOVE AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY CENTER (See AIR BAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY )
SEPARATE OXYGEN SENSOR CONNECTOR
1. Remove the foot rest.
2. Pull up the floor carpet.
3. Disconnect the oxygen sensor connector.
REMOVE FLOOR PANEL BRACE FRONT
1. Remove the 2 nuts and floor panel brace.
REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE ASSY FRONT
1. 1ZZ-FE: (See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION AND DISASSEMBLY & REASSEMBLY )
2. 2ZZ-GE: (See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION AND DISASSEMBLY & REASSEMBLY )
REMOVE FRONT FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR NO.1
1. Remove the 3 nuts and heat insulator.
REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY WITH HOSE
REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT CABLE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHIFT
1. Remove the nut and disconnect control cable from control shaft lever.
2. 2ZZ-GE:
  Push the claw of the clip and disconnect the control cable from the bracket.

3. 2ZZ-GE:
  Remove the clip from the bracket.
4. 1ZZ-FE:
  Remove the clip and disconnect the control cable from the bracket.

5. Disconnect the control cable from control cable support.

6. Remove the 2 nuts and separate the control cable from the body.

7. Remove the cable end from the floor shift assy.

8. Using a screwdriver, disconnect the control cable from the shift lever plate.

9. Remove the 2 bolts.
10. Pull out the control cable assy from the body.
11. Remove the retainer from the shift cable.
INSTALL FLOOR SHIFT CABLE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHIFT
1. Install the retainer to the shift cable.
2. Pull in the control cable assy to the body.

3. Install the 2 bolts.
  Torque: 5.0 N.m (50 kgf.cm, 43 in.lbf)

4. Install the control cable to the shift lever plate.

5. Connect the control cable end to the floor shift assy.

  NOTE: Install it with the uneven surface facing up.
6. Install the control cable with the 2 nuts to the body.
  Torque: 12 N.m (122 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf)

7. Connect the control cable to the control cable support.
8. Temporarily install the control cable to the control shaft lever with nut.
9. 2ZZ-GE:
  Install a new clip to the bracket.
10. 2ZZ-GE:
  Connect the control cable to the bracket.

  NOTE: Insert the cable securely.
11. 1ZZ-FE:
  Install the control cable with the clip to the bracket.

  NOTE: Insert the cable securely.
INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY WITH HOSE
Torque: 7.0 N.m (71 kgf.cm, 62 in.lbf)
INSTALL FRONT FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR NO.1
1. Install the heat insulator with the 3 nuts.
  Torque: 5.0 N.m (50 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)
INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE ASSY FRONT
1. 1ZZ-FE: (See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION AND DISASSEMBLY & REASSEMBLY )
2. 2ZZ-GE: (See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION AND DISASSEMBLY & REASSEMBLY )
INSTALL FLOOR PANEL BRACE FRONT
1. Install the floor panel brace with the 2 nuts.
  Torque: 29.6 N.m (302 kgf.cm, 22 ft.lbf)
INSTALL OXYGEN SENSOR CONNECTOR
1. Connect the oxygen sensor connector.
2. Install the floor carpet and foot rest.
INSTALL AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY CENTER (See AIR BAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY )
SST 09249-63010
ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION (See ADJUSTMENT )
INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION (See ADJUSTMENT )
INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT (See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS )
