- Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Access air bag sensor assembly and disconnect right harness connector. See AIR BAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Access right side head impact air bag module and disconnect harness connector. See HEAD IMPACT AIR BAG MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect negative battery cable. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage in Yellow/Violet wire between ground and harness side of right side head impact air bag squib harness connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If voltage is less than one volt, go to next step. If voltage is more than one volt, repair or replace harness or connector between right side head impact air bag module and air bag sensor assembly.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect negative battery cable. Wait at least 90 seconds. Reconnect air bag sensor assembly right harness connector. Connect jumper wire between Yellow/Orange and Yellow/Violet wire on harness side of right side head impact air bag squib harness connector. Connect negative battery cable. Wait at least 2 seconds. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Wait at least 20 seconds. Clear DTCs. See CLEARING DTCS under DIAGNOSTICS. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Wait at least 20 seconds. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Wait at least 20 seconds. Retrieve DTCs. See RETRIEVING DTCS under DIAGNOSTICS. If DTC 82/B1163 is not displayed, go to next step. If DTC 82/B1163 is displayed, replace air bag sensor assembly.
