Power Seat Control System: Inspection

  1. INSPECT DRIVER'S SEAT SWITCH CONTINUITY 

    Slide switch:

    SLIDE SWITCH SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Switch Position Tester Connection Specified Condition
    FRONT 2-11, 4-7 Continuity
    OFF 4-11, 4-7 Continuity
    BACK 2-7, 4-11 Continuity

    Left switch: 

    LEFT SWITCH SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Switch Position Tester Connection Specified Condition
    UP 2-5, 4-8 Continuity
    OFF 4-5, 4-8 Continuity
    DOWN 2-8, 4-5 Continuity

    Reclining switch: 

    RECLINING SWITCH SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Switch Position Tester Connection Specified Condition
    FORWARD 2-12, 4-6 Continuity
    OFF 4-12, 4-6 Continuity
    REAR 2-6, 4-12 Continuity

    If continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.

  2. INSPECT SLIDE MOTOR OPERATION

    1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 3 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2, check that the motor turns counterclockwise.
    2. Reverse the polarity, check that the motor turns clockwise.

      If operation is not as specified, replace the seat adjuster.

  3. INSPECT LIFTER MOTOR OPERATION

    1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 4, check that the motor turns counterclockwise.

    2. Reverse the polarity, check that the motor turns clockwise.

      If operation is not as specified, replace the seat adjuster.

  4. OPERATION CHECK FOR PTC IN POWER SEAT MOTOR 
    NOTE: Check should be conducted with the power seat motor attached to the adjuster.
    1. Slide the seat as much as to the front or the back, and to the top bottom with the power seat switch.

      Wait for about 60 seconds. 

    2. Operate the power seat switch to the same directions and check the time it takes to shut-off the electric current (Motor operation sound stops.).

      Standard time to shut-off; about 4 - 40 seconds.

    3. Wait for about 60 seconds after finishing the shut-off check, then operate the power seat switch to the opposite directions and make sure that the power seat motor functions.

      If operation is not as specified, replace the seat adjuster.

  5. INSPECT RECLINING MOTOR PTC THERMISTOR OPERATION

    1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 5 and the negative (-) lead to the terminal 6, check that the motor turns counterclockwise.
    2. Reverse the polarity, check that the motor turns clockwise.

      If operation is not as specified, replace the seat adjuster.
