Problem Symptoms Table

When the malfunction code is not confirmed in the diagnostic trouble code check and the problem still can not be confirmed in the basic inspection, proceed to this problem symptoms table and troubleshoot according to the numbered order given below.

PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE - ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM

Symptom Suspected Area
Engine does not crank (Does not start)
  • 6. Starter
  • 7. Starter relay
  • 8. Park/neutral position switch
No initial combustion (Does not start)
  1. ECM power source circuit
  2. Fuel pump control circuit
  3. ECM
No complete combustion (Does not start)
  1. Fuel pump control circuit
Engine cranks normally but difficult to start
  1. Starter signal circuit
  2. Fuel pump control circuit
  3. Compression
Difficult to start with cold engine
  1. Starter signal circuit
  2. Fuel pump control circuit
Difficult to start with hot engine
  1. Starter signal circuit
  2. Fuel pump control circuit
High engine idle speed (Poor idling)
  1. A/C signal circuit (Compressor circuit)
  2. ECM power source circuit

Low engine idle speed (Poor idling)
  1. A/C signal circuit (Compressor circuit)
  2. Fuel pump control circuit
Rough idling (Poor idling)
  1. Compression

Hunting (Poor idling)

  2. Fuel pump control circuit
Hesitation/Poor acceleration (Poor driveability)

  2. A/T faulty (1)
Surging (Poor driveability)

Engine stalls soon after starting

Engine stalls during A/C operation
