Inspection Procedure

  1. Check power steering oil pressure sensor. 

    PREPARATION: 

    1. Connect the hand-held tester or the OBD II scan tool to the DLC3.
    2. Start the engine.
    3. Push the hand-held tester or the OBD II scan tool main switch ON.
    4. Select the item "DIAGNOSIS/ENHANCED OBD II/DATA LIST/ALL/PS SIGNAL".

    CHECK: 

    Read signal displayed on the hand-held tester or the OBD II scan tool.

    RESULT: 

    POWER STEERING OIL PRESSURE SENSOR CONDITION

    Condition Power steering oil pressure sensor
    Turning the steering wheel until it is locked ON
    In an idle OFF

    OK: Check for intermittent problems (See  PRE-CHECK  ). 

    NG: Go to next step. 

  2. Check for open and short in harness and connector between ECM and power steering oil pressure sensor. 

    PREPARATION: 

    1. Disconnect the E6 and E7 ECM connectors.
    2. Disconnect the P2 power steering oil pressure sensor connector.

    CHECK: 

    Measure the resistance between the wire harness side connectors.

    OK:

    Standard (Check for open):

    Standard (Check for short):

    NG: Repair or replace harness or connector. 

    OK: Replace power steering oil pressure sensor (See  COMPONENTS  ).
