Floor Shift Cable Transmission Control Shift (MTM): Replacement

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE: Do not open the cover or the case of the ECU and various electrical devices unless absolutely necessary (If the IC terminals are touched, the IC may be destroyed by static electricity).
  2. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL 
  3. REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSY 
  4. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSY CTR (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  5. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER CENTER (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  7. REMOVE AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY CENTER (See  REMOVAL & INSTALLATION (MATRIX)  ) 
  8. REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT CABLE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHIFT 
    1. Remove the clip, washer and disconnect the cable end of the shift cable from the transaxle.
    2. Remove the clip and disconnect the shift cable from the bracket.

    3. Remove the 2 nuts and disconnect the shift cable.

    4. Disconnect the shift cable from the clamp.
    5. Remove the 2 bolts and shift cable grommet retainer.

    6. Remove the clip, washer and disconnect the cable end of the shift cable from the shift lever assy.

    7. Turn the lock and disconnect the shift cable from the shift lever assy.

    8. Pull out the shift cable from the floor.
  9. INSTALL FLOOR SHIFT CABLE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHIFT 
    1. Pull in the shift cable to the floor.
    2. Install the shift cable grommet retainer with the 2 bolts.
      1. Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)

    3. Connect the shift cable to the shift lever assy.
      NOTE:
      • The projecting part of the cable outer should face upward when the shift cable is installed.
      • Make sure that after installation the cable outer spring is moved to the place shown in Fig 7 .

    4. Connect the shift cable end as shown in Fig 8 .

    5. Install the washer and clip.
    6. Connect the shift cable to the clamp.
    7. Connect the shift cable with the 2 nuts.
      1. Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)

    8. Connect the shift cable with the clip from the bracket.
    9. Connect the shift cable end of the shift cable with the washer and clip to the transaxle.

  10. INSTALL AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY CENTER (See  REMOVAL & INSTALLATION (MATRIX)  ) 

    SST 09249-63010

  11. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT (See  AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CHECK  )
