Cruise Control Actuator Control Cable

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Toyota Avalon. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Ensure cruise control actuator, control cable and throttle linkage are installed properly. Ensure cruise control actuator and bell crank operate smoothly. Ensure cable is not too loose or too tight. Cable free play should be less than .39 in. (10 mm). If control cable is too loose, vehicle will lose speed while driving uphill. If control cable is too tight, idle RPM will be too high.
