Inspection Procedure

  1. INSPECT HEATER CONTROL HOUSING SUB-ASSY (A/CI) 
    1. Remove A/C amplifier assy with connectors still connected.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    3. Measure voltage according to the value(s) in TERMINAL CONDITION SPECIFICATION  .

      Standard: 

      TERMINAL CONDITION SPECIFICATION

      Terminal No. Condition Specified Condition
      E7-33 (A/CI) - Body ground A/C switch ON Below 1.0 V

    1. B: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN ON PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
    2. C: CHECK AND REPLACE HEATER CONTROL HOUSING SUB-ASSY 
    3. A: Go to next step. 
  2. INSPECT COOLER COMPRESSOR ASSY 
    1. Disconnect compressor connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in TERMINAL CONDITION SPECIFICATION  .

      Standard: 

      TERMINAL CONDITION SPECIFICATION

      Terminal No. Condition Specified Condition
      A3-1 - A3-2 at 20°C (68°F) 165 to 205 Ω

    1. NG: REPLACE COOLER COMPRESSOR ASSY 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BETWEEN COOLER COMPRESSOR ASSY AND ECM) 
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  4. INSPECT ECM (LCKI) 
    1. Remove ECM with connector.
    2. Turn ignition switch ON.
    3. A/C switch ON.
    4. Measure waveform between terminal LCKI of ECM and body ground.

      Standard: Pulse generation 

    HINT:

    • The correct waveform is as shown in Fig 4 .

    1. NG: CHECK AND REPLACE ECM 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BETWEEN ECM AND HEATER CONTROL HOUSING SUB-ASSY) 
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: CHECK AND REPLACE HEATER CONTROL HOUSING SUB-ASSY
