Diagnosis & Repair (Using OBD-II Scan Tool)

- Remove the glove compartment door. Turn the ignition switch ON. Measure the voltage between terminal STA of the ECM connector and the body ground, while cranking the engine (ignition switch in START position) and while not engine cranking the engine (ignition switch in ON position). See Figure. If voltage is 6 volts or more (ignition switch in START position) and zero volts (ignition switch in ON position), check and replace ECM. If voltage is not to specification, go to next step.
- Check ignition switch. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. Replace ignition switch as necessary. If okay, go to next step.
- Check park/neutral position switch. See DTC P0705 OR DTC P0850 . Replace as necessary. If okay, go to next step.
- Check for open in harness and connector between ECM and park/neutral position switch. Repair as necessary. If okay, check and replace ECM
