NOTE: Using Toyota hand-held tester or scan tool, read FREEZE FRAME data. Freeze frame data records engine conditions when malfunction is detected.

Check valve timing. See appropriate article in ENGINES. Check for timing gears and/or chain damage. Repair if necessary. If no timing gear and/or chain damage is present, replace ECM. Engine Control Module (ECM) is located behind glove box. See Figure.
