Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Toyota Prius. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
    NOTE: With this inspection, the combination meter ECU CPU can be diagnosed if it works normally or not.
  1. Check combination meter ECU. 

    CHECK:  Start the engine and check that the speed meter and tachometer operate normally.

    1. NG:  Replace the combination meter ECU.
    2. OK:  Go to  2.
  2. Check wire harness

    PREPARATION:  Disconnect connector "A7" of A/C amplifier, "C11" of combination meter ECU and "B8" of body ECU.

    CHECK

    1. Check continuity between terminals MPX+ of A/C amplifier and MPX- of combination meter ECU.
    2. Check continuity between terminals MPX+ of combination meter ECU and MPX1 of body ECU.

    OK:  There is a continuity in wire harness of both ( a and ( b, or either ( a or ( b.

    NOTE: If there is OPEN in wire harness of either ( a or ( b, please repair it.
    1. NG:  Repair or replace wire harness.
    2. OK:  Replace the combination meter ECU.
