Steering Pad Switch: Replacement

  1. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL (see  AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS  ) 
  2. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO. 2 
  3. REMOVE CONNECTOR COVER 
    1. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw (A).

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip, before use.

    2. Disengage the claw (B) and remove the connector cover.

  4. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSY (see  DUAL-STAGE DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE  ) 
  5. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH 
    1. Disconnect the connector.
    2. Remove the 2 screws and steering pad switch.

    3. Disengage the wiring 2 pins from the connector, and pull them out.

  6. INSTALL HORN BUTTON ASSY (see  DUAL-STAGE DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE  ) 
  7. INSPECT HORN BUTTON ASSY (If the horn button contact plate of the horn button assembly is deformed, replace the horn button assembly with a new one)(For Horn operation, see  HORN SYSTEM  ). 
  8. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT (See  AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS  )
