Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK CAN BUS LINE FOR DISCONNECTION (STEERING SENSOR SUB BUS LINE) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
    2. Disconnect the connector (S9) from the steering sensor.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in STEERING SENSOR CONNECTOR RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION TABLE  .

    Standard: 

    STEERING SENSOR CONNECTOR RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION TABLE

    Tester connection Condition Specified value
    S9-3 (CANH) - S9-11 (CANL) Ignition SW OFF 54 to 67 Ω

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE STEERING SENSOR SUB BUS LINE OR CONNECTOR (CAN-H, CAN-L) 
    2. OK: Go to Next Step. 
  2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (IG, ESS) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in ESS - BODY GROUND RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION TABLE  .

      Standard: 

      ESS - BODY GROUND RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION TABLE

      Tester connection Condition Specified value
      S9-2 (ESS) -Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in IG1 - BODY GROUND VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION TABLE  .

    Standard: 

    IG1 - BODY GROUND VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION TABLE

    Tester connection Condition Specified value
    S9-1 (IG1) - Body ground Ignition SW ON 10 to 14 V
    NOTE: Perform the measurement from the back of the connector with the connector connected.

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE WIRE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: REPLACE STEERING SENSOR (SEE  REPLACEMENT  )
