Test Drive Confirmation

  1. Connect Toyota hand-held tester or scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC3) at driver's side of instrument panel. See Figure.
  2. Start engine and warm engine to normal operating temperature. Ensure all accessories are off. Drive vehicle at 43-56 MPH for at least 3 minutes and then allow engine to idle for about 2 minutes.
  3. Repeat step  2 again. Check READINESS TESTS mode on hand-held tester or scan tool. If COMPL is displayed and Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) does not illuminate, system is normal. If INCOMPL is displayed and MIL does not illuminate, repeat step  2 several times and recheck READINESS TESTS mode on hand-held tester or scan tool. If INCOMPL is displayed, the system check is not complete or there is a malfunction in the EGR system. If malfunction exists, the MIL will illuminate and DTC is set. If MIL does not illuminate, malfunction does not exist.
