Test A: Window Moves Down During Up Operation
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Lexus RX 300 and 2002 Lexus RX 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
When the difference of the descending time compared to the opposite window is recognized, there seems to be an error on the sliding components (door glass run and window regulator).
- Sliding Resistance Check - With the ignition switch ON, when performing the auto-up or manual-up operation, if the factor which increases the sliding resistance of the window glass near the inverse position is recognized, then disassemble the door and replace or repair the component. If the results are not as specified, go to the next step.
- Power Window Motor Reset - Reset the limit switch. See POWER WINDOW MOTOR (LIMIT SWITCH & PULSE SWITCH) RESET under ADJUSTMENTS.
- Check that the operation of the power window control is normal. If the operation is normal, check the operation repeatedly and then perform the function check. If the results are not normal, remove the power window regulator assembly. See WINDOW REGULATOR (FRONT DOOR) or WINDOW REGULATOR (REAR DOOR) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Sliding Resistance Check - When raising the assembled window glass by hand if the glass slides smoothly without being caught, go to the next step. If the results are not as specified, check or repair the door glass run and window guide frame.
- Unit Check - If the power window regulator and motor operate smoothly, replace the driver door control ECU with the normal one removed from another seat.
- Power Window Motor Reset - Install the power window regulator. See WINDOW REGULATOR (FRONT DOOR) or WINDOW REGULATOR (REAR DOOR) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Then reset the limit switch. See POWER WINDOW MOTOR (LIMIT SWITCH & PULSE SWITCH) RESET under ADJUSTMENTS.
- Check that the operation of the power window control is normal. If the operation is normal, the driver door ECU is faulty. Remove the power window master switch with driver door ECU for replacement. See DOOR TRIM PANEL (FRONT) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION under POWER DOOR LOCKS & LIFTGATE RELEASE article under DOOR LOCKS & ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. If the operation is not normal, the power window motor is faulty. See WINDOW REGULATOR (FRONT DOOR) or WINDOW REGULATOR (REAR DOOR) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
