Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK INDICATOR LAMP 
    1. Inspect the indicator light condition by operating the P position switch.

      Result: 

      INDICATOR LIGHT CONDITION

      Condition Proceed to
      Indicator light does not go off. A
      Indicator light does not come on. B

      B: Go to step   c 

    2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION CONTROL ECU ASSY - P POSITION SWITCH)

      1. Disconnect the T4 connector from the transmission control ECU assy.
      2. Disconnect the M11 connector from the P position switch.
      3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester connection (Symbols) Condition Specified condition
      T4-9 (IND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

      OK 

      REPLACE TRANSMISSION CONTROL ECU ASSY 

    3. INSPECT FUSE

      1. Remove the P CON MAIN fuse from the engine room R/B and J/B.
      2. Check for continuity of the P CON MAIN fuse.

      Standard: Continuity 

      NG: INSPECT FOR SHORT IN ALL COMPONENTS CONNECTED TO FUSE AND REPAIR OR REPLACE THEM IF NEEDED, AND REPLACE FUSE 

      OK 

    4. INSPECT COMPUTER, TRANSMISSION CONTROL IND TERMINAL)

      1. Disconnect the T4 connector from the transmission control ECU assy.
      2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester connection (Symbols) Condition Specified condition
      T4-9 (IND) - Body ground Always 9 to 14 V

      OK: REPLACE TRANSMISSION CONTROL ECU ASSY 

      NG 

    5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION CONTROL ECU ASSY - P POSITION SWITCH)

      1. Disconnect the M11 connector from the P position switch.
      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester connection (Symbols) Condition Specified condition
      T4-9 (IND) - M11-6 (IND-) Always Below 1 Ω

      NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

      OK 

    6. INSPECT P POSITION SWITCH

      1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester connection(Symbols) Condition Specified condition
      M11-5 (IND+) - Body ground Always 9 to 14 V

      OK: REPLACE P POSITION SWITCH 

      NG 

      REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (P POSITION SWITCH - BATTERY)
