Inspection Procedure

- READ VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER
- Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON and push the hand-held tester main switch ON.
- Select the item "SHIFT D POS" in the DATA LIST and read its value displayed on the hand-held tester.
OK:
ON: Shift D Position
OFF: Shift except D position
- OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE (See PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE )
- NG: Go to Next Step
- INPUT SIGNAL CHECK
- See "input signal check" on PRE-CHECK .
- Check the indicator light operation when shifting into except D position.
OK:
The indicator light goes off when shifting into except D position.
- OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE (See PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE )
- NG: Go to Next Step
- INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSY (DL, RB)
- Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.
- Check that the continuity exists between terminal 3 (RB) and 7 (DL) of the park/neutral position switch connected.
OK:
Continuity
- NG: REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSY
- OK: Go to Next Step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
- Check for open and short circuit in the harness and the connector between terminal D of ECM and the park/neutral position switch (See ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE ).
- Check for open and short circuit in the harness and the connector between terminal RB of the park/neutral position switch and the battery (See ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE ).
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
- OK: CHECK AND REPLACE ECM (See ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE )
