NOTE:
Using Toyota hand-held tester or scan tool, read FREEZE FRAME data. Freeze frame data records engine conditions when malfunction is detected.
Check mechanical valve timing (loose, stretched or jumped teeth on timing chain). See appropriate article in ENGINES. If problem is found, repair or replace components as necessary. If problem is not found, replace ECM. ECM is located behind glove box. See Figure.
