Back Door: Adjustment

NOTE:
  • On the RH side, use the same procedures as on the LH side.
  • Since a centering bolt is used as door hinge mounting bolts on the body side and the door side, the door can not be adjusted with them on. Substitute a bolt with a washer for the centering bolt.

  1. INSPECT BACK DOOR PANEL SUB-ASSY 
    1. Check that the clearance is within the standard range.

    Standard: 

    BACK DOOR PANEL SUB-ASSY SPECIFICATIONS

    A 10.6 +/- 1.5 mm (0.417 +/- 0.059 in.)
    B 7.0 +/- 1.5 mm (0.276 +/- 0.059 in.)
    C 6.0 +/- 1.5 mm (0.236 +/- 0.059 in.)
    D 5.7 +/- 1.5 mm (0.224 +/- 0.059 in.)
  2. ADJUST BACK DOOR PANEL SUB-ASSY 
    1. Adjust the door forward/rearward and vertically by loosening the body side hinge nuts and bolt.
    2. Tighten the body side hinge nuts and bolt after the adjustment.

      Torque: 26 N.m (265 kgf.cm, 19 ft.lbf)

    3. Horizontally and vertically adjust the door by loosening the door side hinge bolts.
    4. Tighten the body side hinge bolts after the adjustment.

      Torque: 26 N.m (265 kgf.cm, 19 ft.lbf)

    5. Using a screwdriver, remove the back door scuff plate. (See ROOF HEADLINING ASSY )
      NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
    6. Adjust the striker position by slightly loosening the striker mounting screws and hitting the striker with a plastic-faced hammer.
    7. Tighten the striker mounting screws after the adjustment.

      Torque: 23 N.m (235 kgf.cm, 17 ft.lbf)
