Inspection Procedure
- Check ODMS circuit.
When using the hand-held tester:
PREPARATION:
- Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
CHECK:
Read the OVERDRV CUT SW2 signal on the hand-held tester.
- OK:
O/D MAIN SWITCH DISPLAYO/D Main Switch Display Pressed when O/D ON OFF Pressed when O/D OFF ON When not using the hand-held tester:
PREPARATION:
- Disconnect the E4 ECM connector (5VZ-FE).
- Disconnect the E3 ECM connector (2UZ-FE).
CHECK:
Measure the resistance between the terminal ODMS of the ECM connector and body ground.
- OK:
O/D MAIN SWITCH DISPLAYO/D Main Switch Specified Condition Pressed when O/D ON Below 1 Ω Pressed when O/D OFF 10 kΩ or higher - NG: Go to step 3 .
- OK: Go To Next Step
- Check ODLP circuit.
PREPARATION:
- Disconnect the E4 ECM connector.
- Using a jumper wire, connect the ODLP terminal of the wire harness side ECM connector to the body ground.
CHECK:
Check that the O/D OFF indicator light turns on when turning the ignition switch ON.
OK:
The O/D indicator light turns on.
- NG: Go to step 5 .
- OK: Check and replace ECM (see HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE ).
- Check O/D main switch.
PREPARATION:
Disconnect the O/D main switch connector.
CHECK:
Measure the resistance between the O/D main switch connector terminals 1 and 3.
- Standard:
O/D Main Switch Specific Conditions TableO/D Main Switch Specified Condition Pressed when ON position Below 1 Ω Pressed when OFF position 10 kΩ or higher OK:
Standard
- NG: Replace O/D main switch.
- OK: Go To Next Step
- Check harness and connector between ECM and O/D main switch.
- NG: Repair or replace harness and connector between ECM and O/D main switch.
- OK: Repair or replace harness and connector between O/D main switch and body ground.
- Check harness and connector.
- NG: Repair or replace harness and connector between ECM and combination meter.
- OK: Go To Next Step
- Check O/D indicator light bulb.
- NG: Replace combination meter.
- OK: Replace valve.
