OBD II Monitor Specifications

Monitor Strategy 

MONITOR STRATEGY (DTC P0450/0451/0452/0453)

Required Sensors/Components Pump module
Frequency of Operation Once per driving cycle: P0451 sensor stuck Continuous: P0451 sensor noising, P0450, P0452 and P0453
Duration -
MIL Operation Immediate: P0450, P0452 and P0453 2 driving cycles: P0451
Sequence of Operation None

Typical Enabling Conditions 

P0451: (Noise monitor): 

TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS - NOISE MONITOR (DTC P0451)

Monitor runs whenever these DTCs not present See LIST OF DISABLE A MONITOR 
Atmospheric pressure (absolute pressure) 70 kPa (525 mmHg) or more, less than 110 kPa (825 mmHg)
Battery voltage 10.5V or more
Either of following conditions met A or B
A. Engine Running
B. Soak time (ignition switch OFF time) 5 hours
Intake air temperature 4.4° to 35°C (40° to 95°F)

P0451 (Stuck monitor): 

TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS - STUCK MONITOR (DTC P0451)

Monitor runs whenever these DTCs not present See LIST OF DISABLE A MONITOR 
Atmospheric pressure (absolute pressure) Less than 70 kPa (525 mmHg), or 110 kPa (825 mmHg) or more
Batten/voltage 10.5V or more
Engine Not running
Soak time (ignition switch OFF time) 5 hours
Intake air temperature 4.4° to 35°C (40° to 95°F)

P0450, P0452 and P0453: 

TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS (DTC P0450/0452/0453)

Monitor runs whenever these DTCs not present See LIST OF DISABLE A MONITOR 
Ignition switch OFF

Typical Malfunction Thresholds 

  1. P0450: Pressure sensor voltage abnormal fluctuation
    TYPICAL MALFUNCTION THRESHOLDS (DTC P0450)

    Pressure sensor voltage Less than 0.45 V, or more than 4.9 V
  2. P0451: Pressure sensor noise
    TYPICAL MALFUNCTION THRESHOLDS - PRESSURE SENSOR NOISE (DTC P0451)

    Pressure variation indicated by pressure sensor in 10 seconds More than +/-0.3 kPa (+/- 2.25 mmHg) 10 times
  3. P0451: Pressure sensor stuck
    TYPICAL MALFUNCTION THRESHOLDS - PRESSURE SENSOR STUCK (DTC P0451)

    0.02 inch leak pressure variation indicated by pressure sensor in 10 seconds Less than 0.8 kPa (6 mmHg)
  4. P0452: Pressure sensor low voltage
    TYPICAL MALFUNCTION THRESHOLDS (DTC P0452)

    Pressure sensor voltage Less than 0.45 V
  5. P0453: Pressure sensor high voltage
TYPICAL MALFUNCTION THRESHOLDS (DTC P0453)

Pressure sensor voltage More than 4.9V
