On-Vehicle Inspection

  1. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSY 
    1. Check the operation.
      1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
      3. Turn the hand-held tester ON.
      4. Start the engine and warm it up.
      5. Select the menu items: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / ACTIVE TEST / WT CTRL B1.
      6. Operate the OCV using the hand-held tester, then check the engine speed.

        Standard: 

        TESTER CONDITION SPECIFICATION

        Tester Operation Specified Condition
        OCV OFF Normal engine speed
        OCV ON Rough idling engine stalls

    If the operation is not as specified, check the camshaft timing oil control valve, wire harness and ECM.

  2. INSPECT THROTTLE BODY ASSY 
    1. Listen to the throttle control motor operating sounds.
      1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
      2. When pressing the accelerator pedal, listen to the running sounds of the motor. Make sure no friction noises come from the motor.

      If friction noises exist, check the throttle body, wire harness and ECM.

    2. Inspect the throttle position sensor.
      1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
      3. Turn the hand-held tester ON.
      4. Select the menu items: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / DATA LIST / ALL / THROTTLE POS.
      5. Depress the accelerator pedal. When the throttle valve is fully opened, check that the THROTTLE POS value is within the specified values.

    Standard: 60% or more 

    NOTE: When checking the standard throttle valve opening percentage, the transmission should be in the neutral position.

    If the result is not as specified, check the throttle body, wire harness and ECM.

  3. INSPECT ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSY 
    1. Inspect the voltage.
      1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
      3. Turn the hand-held tester ON.
      4. Select the menu items: DIAGNOSIS/ENHANCED OBD II/DATA LIST/ALL/ACCEL POS #1, ACCEL POS #2.
      5. Operate the accelerator pedal, then check that of the ACCEL POS #1 and ACCEL POS #2 values are within the specified values.

        ACCEL POS #1: 

        VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION ACCEL POS #1

        Accelerator Pedal Condition Specified Condition
        Released 0.5 to 1.1V
        Depressed 2.6 to 4.5V

        ACCEL POS #2: 

        VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION ACCEL POS #2

        Accelerator Pedal Condition Specified Condition
        Released 1.2 to 2.0V
        Depressed 3.4 to 5.0V

    If the result is not as specified, check the accelerator pedal, wire harness and ECM.
