Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK SMART DOOR LOCK AND UNLOCK OPERATION 
    1. Check that the smart lock and unlock function operates normally.

      OK: Smart lock and unlock function operates normally. 

    1. NG: OTHER PROBLEM (See  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE   ) 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  2. READ DATA LIST (HALFWAY SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the hand-held tester (with CAN VIM) to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch from OFF to ON (IG) and press the hand-held tester main switch ON.
    3. Select the item below in the DATA LIST and read the displays on the hand-held tester.

      Smart ECU:

      OK: ON (key is in key slot) appears on the screen. 

    1. NG: Go to PUSH BUTTON START SYSTEM (See  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING  ) 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST (INDOOR ELECTRICAL KEY OSCILLATOR) 
    1. Connect the hand-held tester (with CAN VIM) to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch from OFF to ON (IG) and press the hand-held tester main switch ON.
    3. Select the item below in the ACTIVE TEST and then check that the oscillator operates.

      Smart ECU: 

      ACTIVE TEST (SMART ECU)

      Item Test Details Diagnostic Note
      FR TRANSMITTER Indoor electrical key oscillator ON/OFF  

      OK: When smart key is brought close to indoor electrical key oscillator, oscillator is turned ON and indicator on smart key illuminates. 

    4. Measure the frequency of the oscillator connector.

      Standard: 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R8-3 (CLG) - R8-5 (GND) During ACTIVE TEST Some Hz

    1. NG: Go to STEP4 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

      REPLACE SMART KEY ECU ASSY 

  4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (INDOOR ELECTRICAL KEY OSCILLATOR - SMART KEY ECU, BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the R8 oscillator connector.
    2. Disconnect the S11 ECU connector.
    3. Measure the voltage and resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard: 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      R8-1 (B) - Body ground 10 to 14 V
      R8-5 (GND) - Body ground Below 1 Ω
      R8-3 (CLG) - S11-36 (CLG5) Below 1 Ω
      R8-3 (CLG) or S11-36 (CLG5) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

      REPLACE SMART KEY ECU ASSY
