Inspection Procedure
- Check voltage between terminal CCS of ECM connector and body ground.
PREPARATION:
- Remove the ECM with the connector still connected.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
CHECK:
Measure the voltage between terminal CCS of the ECM connector and body ground when each of the -/SET, +/RES and CANCEL is turned ON.
SWITCH CONDITION AND SPECIFIED CONDITIONSwitch Condition Specified Condition Neutral 10 to 16 V +/RES 2.3 to 4.5 V /SET 4.5 to 8.1 V CANCEL 6.6 to 11.4 V - NG: Proceed to next circuit inspection shown in problem symptoms table (See PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE ).
- OK: Go To Next Step.
- Check cruise control switch resistance.
PREPARATION:
- Remove steering wheel center pad.
- Disconnect the cruise control switch connector.
CHECK:
- Measure the resistance between terminals 4 and 5 of the cruise control switch connector when the control switch is operated.
OK:
SWITCH CONDITION AND SPECIFIED CONDITIONSwitch Condition Specified Condition Neutral 1 kΩ or higher CRUISE Below 1 Ω +/RES 220 to 260 Ω /SET 600 to 660 Ω CANCEL 1,500 to 1,600 Ω - Measure the resistance between terminals 4 and 5 of the control switch connector when the main switch is held on and off.
OK:
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITIONSwitch Condition Tester Connection Specified Condition OFF 4-5 1 kΩ or higher ON 4-5 Below 1 Ω - NG: Replace control switch.
- OK: Go To Next Step.
- Check harness and connector between ECM and cruise control switch, and cruise control switch and body ground (See HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE
).
- NG: Repair or replace harness or connector.
- OK: Go To Next Step.
- Check cruise control indicator light (See combination meter).
- NG: Replace combination meter.
- OK: Check and replace ECM (See HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE ).
