Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK OPERATION (STARTER) 
    1. Check that the starter operates normally and that the engine starts.

    NO: GO TO ENGINE TROUBLESHOOTING 

    YES: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  2. CHECK INPUT SIGNAL 
    1. See input signal check (See HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT ECU CONTROLLED SYSTEMS ).
    2. Check the indicator light when shifting into except D position.

      OK: The indicator light goes off when shifting into except D position.

    OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  

    NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  3. INSPECT TERMINAL VOLTAGE (D) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Measure voltage between terminal 4 (D) of cruise control ECU assembly connector and body ground when shifting into D position and other positions.

      OK 

      SHIFT POSITION AND VOLTAGE

      Shift Position Voltage
      D position 10 to 16 V
      Other positions Below 1 V

    OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  

    NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CRUISE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY - PARK/ NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH) 
    1. Check for open and short circuit in harness and connector between cruise control ECU assembly and park/neutral position switch (See HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT ECU CONTROLLED SYSTEMS ).

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: CHECK AND REPLACE CRUISE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY
