Inspection Procedure
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
- Separate type amplifier:
Disconnect the connectors shown in the illustration on the left from the stereo component amplifier and speakers.
- Built-in type amplifier:
Disconnect the connectors shown in the illustration on the left from the radio receiver and speakers.
- Separate type amplifier:
Measure the resistance between each speaker and the stereo component amplifier to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.
Standard resistance:
Below 1 Ω
- Built-in type amplifier:
Measure the resistance between each speaker and the radio receiver to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.
- Measure the resistance between each speaker and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.
Standard resistance:
10 kΩ or higher
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: GO TO NEXT STEP
- Separate type amplifier:
- CHECK VEHICLE TYPE
- Choose type to be inspected.VEHICLE TYPE
Type Proceed to w/ No. 1 Woofer Box Speaker A w/o No. 1 Woofer Box Speaker B
B: Go to step 4
A: GO TO NEXT STEP
- Choose type to be inspected.
- INSPECT NO. 1 WOOFER BOX SPEAKER
- Resistance check.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in NO. 1 WOOFER BOX SPEAKER
.NOTE: The speaker should not be removed for checking.
Standard resistance
NO. 1 WOOFER BOX SPEAKERTester connection Condition Specified condition 1 - 3 Always 0.7 to 1.9 Ω 2 - 4 Always 0.7 to 1.9 Ω
NG: REPLACE NO. 1 WOOFER BOX SPEAKER
OK: GO TO NEXT STEP
- INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER
- Resistance check.
- Measure the resistance between the terminals of the speaker.
Standard resistance:
- Separate Type Amplifier: 2.3 to 2.9 Ω
- Built-in Type Amplifier: 3.4 to 4.6 Ω
- Measure the resistance between the terminals of the speaker.
NG: REPLACE FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER
OK: GO TO NEXT STEP
- Resistance check.
- INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER
- Check that malfunction disappears when another speaker in good condition is installed.
OK:
Malfunction disappears.
HINT:
- Connect all the connectors to the speakers.
- When there is a possibility that either right or left front speaker is detective, inspect by interchanging the right one and the left one.
OK: REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER
NG: GO TO NEXT STEP
- Check that malfunction disappears when another speaker in good condition is installed.
- INSPECT REAR SPEAKER
- Resistance check.
- Measure the resistance between the terminals of the speaker.
Standard resistance:
- Separate Type Amplifier: 1.6 to 2.0 Ω
- Built-in Type Amplifier: 3.4 to 4.6 Ω
- Measure the resistance between the terminals of the speaker.
NG: REPLACE REAR SPEAKER
OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
- Resistance check.
