HINT:

This confirmation driving pattern is used in procedure 7 of the following diagnostic troubleshooting procedure.

Connect an intelligent tester or OBD II scan tool to the DLC3 (Procedure "A").
Turn the ignition switch to ON (Procedure "B").
Turn the tester or scan tool ON (Procedure "C").
Clear DTCs (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR ) (Procedure "D").
Start the engine (Procedure "E").
Allow the engine to idle until the engine coolant temperature reaches 40°C (104°F) (Procedure "F").
Drive the vehicle at a speed of more than 38 mph (60 km/h) for 3 minutes or more (Procedure "G").

NOTE: If the conditions in this test are not strictly followed, malfunctions may not be detected.
