Inspection Procedure
- READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER
- Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch on (IG), and turn the intelligent tester main switch on.
- According to the display on the tester, read the "DATA LIST".
CC (ECM):

Distance selected by the distance control switch is shown on the display.
NG: Go to step 2
OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
- INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY
- Remove the steering pad switch assembly.
- Measure the resistance between terminals 4 (DIST) and 6 (ECC) of the steering pad switch assembly connector when the distance control switch is operated.
Standard resistance
RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONSwitch Position Specified Condition Distance control switch is ON Below 2.5 Ω Distance control switch is OFF 100 kΩ or higher HINT:
When a malfunction is detected in the distance control switch, replace the steering pad switch assembly.

- INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE NOTE: The spiral cable is an important part of the SRS airbag system. Incorrect removal or installation of the spiral cable may prevent the airbag from deploying. Be sure to read the article shown in the brackets.

- Remove the spiral cable.
- Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard resistance
RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Spiral Cable Position Specified Condition A-4 - D15-11 Center Below 1 Ω 2.5 rotations to the left 2.5 rotations to the right A-6 - D15-2 Center Below 1 Ω 2.5 rotations to the left 2.5 rotations to the right HINT:
The spiral cable makes a maximum of approximately 5 rotations.

NG: REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY
OK: Go to Next Step
- CHECK WIRE HARNESS (DISTANCE CONTROL ECU - SPIRAL CABLE)
- Disconnect the distance control ECU connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard resistance
RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Condition Specified Condition D15-11 - A20-16 (MODE) Always Below 1 Ω A20-16 (MODE) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
NG: REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE
OK: Go to Next Step
- CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SPIRAL CABLE - BODY GROUND)
- Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard resistance
RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Condition Specified Condition D15-2 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
NG: REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE
OK: Go to Next Step
- Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
- INSPECT DISTANCE CONTROL ECU
- Remove the distance control ECU (cruise control ECU) with the connector.
- Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
- Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard voltage
VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Condition Specified Condition A20-16 (MODE) - Body ground Distance control switch ON 0 to 2V A20-16 (MODE) - Body ground Distance control switch OFF 9 to 16 V
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
