Inspection Procedure
HINT:
- This DTC table is on the premise that the engine is started normally. If the engine is difficult to start, proceed to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE .
- Read freeze frame data using an intelligent tester. Freeze frame data record the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data, from the time the malfunction occurred.
- CHECK ECM (FPR VOLTAGE)
- Measure the voltage between the terminals of the B3 ECM connector.
Standard Voltage
STANDARD VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONSTester Connections Conditions Specified Conditions FPR (B3-30) - E1 (B3-1) STA signal ON 11 to 14 V STA signal OFF 0 to 3V
NG: REPLACE ECM (See REMOVAL )
OK: Go TO NEXT STEP
- Measure the voltage between the terminals of the B3 ECM connector.
- INSPECT FUEL PUMP RELAY ASSEMBLY
- Remove the fuel pump relay from the engine room R/B.
- Check the fuel pump relay resistance.
Standard Resistance
STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONSTester Connections Specified Conditions 3 - 4 Below 1 Ω 3 - 5 10 kΩ or higher 3 - 4 10 kΩ or higher (when battery voltage applied to terminals 1 and 2) 3 - 5 Below 1 Ω (when battery voltage applied to terminals 1 and 2) - Reinstall the fuel pump relay.
NG: REPLACE FUEL PUMP RELAY ASSEMBLY
OK: Go TO NEXT STEP
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL PUMP RELAY-ECM)
- Remove the fuel pump relay from the engine room R/B.
- Disconnect the 63 ECM Connector.
- Check the resistance.

TESTER CONNECTIONS AND SPECIFIED CONDITIONSTester Connections Specified Conditions Fuel pump relay (1) - FPR (B3-30) Below 1 Ω Standard Resistance (Check for short)
TESTER CONNECTIONS AND SPECIFIED CONDITIONSTester Connections Specified Conditions Fuel pump relay (1) or FPR (B3-30) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher - Reinstall the fuel pump relay.
- Reconnect the ECM connector.
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: REPLACE ECM (See REMOVAL )
