Inspection Procedure

1. Remove the ECM with the connector still connected.
2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
3. Measure the voltage between terminal CCS of the E8 ECM connector and body ground, when each of the -/SET, +RES and CANCEL switches are turned ON.

   Standard voltage 

   ECM (CCS VOLTAGE)
   
   

   Switch Position	Specified Condition
   Neutral	10 to 14 V
   +/RES	2.3 to 4 V
   -/SET	4.5 to 7.1 V
   CANCEL	6.6 to 10.1 V

OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 

1. Remove the steering wheel center pad (see REMOVAL ).
2. Disconnect the control switch connector.
3. Measure the resistance between terminals 4 and 5 of the cruise control switch connector when the control switch is operated.

   Standard resistance 

   CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH RESISTANCE
   
   

   Switch Position	Specified Condition
   Neutral	Infinity (No continuity)
   +/RES	216 to 264 Ω
   -/SET	567 to 693 Ω
   CANCEL	1,386 to 1,694 Ω

4. Check continuity between terminals 4 and 5 of the control switch connector when the main switch is held on and off.

   OK 

   CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH CONTINUITY
   
   

   Tester Condition	Switch Position	Specified Condition
   4 - 5	OFF	No continuity
   4 - 5	ON	Continuity

NG: REPLACE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH 

OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

1. Check CRUISE MAIN INDICATOR LIGHT CIRCUIT  .

NG: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 

OK: REPLACE ECM
