Front Axle Hub: Disassembly

  1. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB OIL SEAL AND BEARING 
    1. Using a screwdriver, pry out the oil seal.
    2. Remove the bearing from the axle hub.
  2. REMOVE AXLE HUB BEARING OUTER RACE 
    1. Using a brass bar and hammer, tap out the outside bearing outer race.
      NOTE: Be careful not to damage the ABS speed sensor rotor.

    2. Using a brass bar and hammer, tap out the inside bearing outer race.
  3. INSPECT AXLE HUB BEARINGS 
    1. Clean the bearings and outer races and inspect them for wear or damage.

  4. REMOVE FRONT DISC 
    1. Mount the axle hub with the disc in a soft jaw vise.
      NOTE: Close the vise until it holds the disc, and do not tighten it further.
    2. Place matchmarks on the axle hub and disc.
    3. Remove the 5 bolts and separate the axle hub and disc.
