Section 18 (Charging System): Generator: Installation

  1. INSTALL GENERATOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the generator with the bolt and 2 nuts.

      Torque:  

      • 39 N*m (400 kgf*cm, 29 ft.*lbf) for bolt 
      • 39 N*m (400 kgf*cm, 29 ft.*lbf) for nut (A) 
      • 16 N*m (163 kgf*cm, 12 ft.*lbf) for nut (B) 
    2. Connect the generator connector.
    3. Connect the generator wire with the nut and terminal cap.

      Torque: 9.8 N*m (100 kgf*cm, 86 in.*lbf) 

    4. Install the generator wire clamp to the cord clip on the generator.

  2. INSTALL VANE PUMP ASSEMBLY (See  REASSEMBLY  ) 
  3. INSTALL FLUID COUPLING ASSEMBLY 
    1. Put the fan with fluid coupling and fan shroud into the engine room at the same time.
    2. Install the fan shroud with the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf) 

    3. Install the fan with fluid coupling with the 4 nuts.

      Torque: 29 N*m (296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf) 

  4. INSTALL DRIVE BELT (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  5. CONNECT CABLE TO BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL 
  6. PERFORM INITIALIZATION 
    1. Perform INITIALIZATION .
      NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
