Front Axle Hub: Installation

  1. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB LH BEARING 
    1. Using SST and a press, install a new hub LH bearing to the steering knuckle.

      SST 09950-60020 (09951-00720), 09950-70010 (09951-07100)

  2. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE DUST COVER LH 
    1. Install the dust cover front LH with the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 8.3 N*m (85 kgf*cm, 73 in.*lbf) 

  3. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Using SST and a press, install the hub sub-assembly LH.

      SST 09608-32010, 09950-60010 (09951-00600), 09950-70010 (09951-07100)

  4. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB LH HOLE SNAP RING 
    1. Using snap ring pliers, install a new LH hole snap ring.

  5. INSTALL FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Install the lower ball joint assembly front LH, torque the nut.

      Torque: 103 N*m (1,050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Install a new cotter pin.
      NOTE: If the holes for the cotter pin are not aligned, tighten the nut further up to 60°.
  6. INSTALL FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Install the 2 bolts, nuts and front axle assembly LH to the shock absorber.

      Torque: 220 N*m (2,243 kgf*cm, 162 ft.*lbf) 

      NOTE: Only when reusing the bolts and nuts, apply engine oil to the screw part of the nuts.
    2. Push the front axle assembly toward the outside of the vehicle, fit the splined part of the drive shaft assembly to that of the front axle assembly and insert the drive shaft assembly into the front axle assembly.

      NOTE:
      • Do not push out the front axle assembly excessively.
      • Be careful not to damage the drive shaft outboard joint boot.
      • With ABS:

        Be careful not to damage the speed sensor rotor.

  7. INSTALL NO. 1 FRONT SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY LOWER LH (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  8. INSTALL TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  9. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  10. INSTALL FRONT DISC 
  11. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Install the brake caliper assembly with the 2 bolts to the steering knuckle.

      Torque: 107 N*m (1,089 kgf*cm, 79 ft.*lbf)

  12. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB LH NUT 
    1. Using a socket wrench (30 mm), install a new hub LH nut.

      Torque: 216 N*m (2,200 kgf*cm, 159 ft.*lbf) 

  13. SEPARATE FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH 
  14. INSTALL FRONT DISC 
  15. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH 
  16. INSTALL FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH (WITH ABS) (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  17. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB LH NUT 
    1. Using a chisel and a hammer, stake the hub LH nut.

  18. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL 

    Torque: 103 N*m (1,050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf) 

  19. INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT (See  ADJUSTMENT  ) 
  20. INSPECT ABS SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL (WITH ABS) 
    1. Vehicle Stability Control System (See TEST MODE PROCEDURE )
    2. Anti-lock Brake System (See TEST MODE PROCEDURE )
