Confirmation Driving Pattern
HINT:
This confirmation driving pattern is used in steps 3, 6, 8, and 16 of the following diagnostic troubleshooting procedure when using either an intelligent tester or OBD II scan tool.
- Driving Patterns
- Connect an intelligent tester or OBD II scan tool to the DLC3 (Procedure "A").
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (Procedure "B").
- Turn the tester or scan tool ON (Procedure "C").
- Clear DTCs (Procedure "D") (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR ).
- If using an OBD II scan tool, go to procedure "G" below (Procedure "E").
- Switch the ECM from normal mode to check mode using the tester (Procedure "F") (See CHECK MODE PROCEDURE ).
- Start the engine and warm it up for 2 minutes with all the accessories switched OFF (Procedure "G").
- Drive the vehicle at between 38 mph and 75 mph (60 km/h and 120 km/h) and at an engine speed of between 1,400 rpm and 3,200 rpm for 3 to 5 minutes (Procedure "H").
- If using an OBD II scan tool, conduct the following additional operations: (Procedure "I")
- Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- Repeat procedures "G" and "H" described above.
HINT:
- When using an intelligent tester: The MIL will be illuminated during procedure "H" if a malfunction still exists.
- When using an OBD II scan tool: The MIL will be illuminated during procedure "H" at second time if a malfunction still exists.
NOTE: If the conditions in this test are not strictly followed, no malfunction will be detected.
