VVT Sensor: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
  2. REMOVE INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the 2 water by-pass hoses from the throttle body.
    2. Disconnect the vapor feed hose.
    3. Disconnect the throttle body connector and clamp.

    4. Disconnect the No. 2 ventilation hose.
    5. Disconnect the union to check valve hose.

    6. Remove the bolt and vacuum hose clamp.

    7. Disconnect the connector.

    8. Using a 5 mm socket hexagon wrench, remove the 4 bolts.
    9. Remove the 2 nuts, 2 bolts and surge tank.

    10. Remove the gasket from the surge tank.
  3. REMOVE VVT SENSOR 
    1. Disconnect the 4 sensor connectors.
    2. Remove the 4 bolts and 4 sensors.
