VVT Sensor: Removal
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
NOTE:
- Some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (see INITIALIZATION
).
- After the ignition switch is turned OFF, the navigation system requires approximately 90 seconds to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch OFF, wait 90 seconds or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
- REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER

- DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT

- REMOVE FRONT WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY
- Remove the front wiper motor and link assembly (see REMOVAL
).
- REMOVE FRONT COWL TOP OUTER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

)
- REMOVE V-BANK COVER
(See REMOVAL
)
- REMOVE NO. 2 AIR CLEANER HOSE
(See REMOVAL
)
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY WITH ELEMENT
(See REMOVAL
)
- REMOVE VVT SENSOR (for Bank 1)
- Disconnect the sensor connector.
- Remove the bolt and sensor.

- REMOVE VVT SENSOR (for Bank 2)
- Disconnect the No. 4 and No. 5 water by-pass hoses.
- Disconnect the sensor connector.
