Inspection Procedure

NOTE: Turn the ignition switch off before measuring the resistances of CAN bus main wires and CAN bus branch wires.
  1. CHECK OPEN IN CAN BUS WIRE (STEERING ANGLE SENSOR BRANCH WIRE) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the steering angle sensor connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITIONS

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S12-10 (CANH)-S12-9 (CANL) Ignition switch off 54 to 69 Ω

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR BRANCH WIRE OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (BAT, IG1, ESS) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITIONS

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S12-2 (ESS)-Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage 

      VOLTAGE SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S12-3 (BAT) - Body ground Always 10 to 14 V
      S12-1 (IG1) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 10 to 14 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR  (See REMOVAL )
