Inspection Procedure
- CHECK STOP LIGHT SWITCH OPERATION
- Check that the stop light comes on when the brake pedal is depressed and goes off when the brake pedal is released.
HINT:
Check the stop light bulb because it may be burnt out.
OK:
Stop light switch function is normal.
NG: Go to step 3
OK: Go to next step
- Check that the stop light comes on when the brake pedal is depressed and goes off when the brake pedal is released.
- INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU (STP TERMINAL)
- Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage
VOLTAGE SPECIFIED CONDITIONTester Connection Condition Specified Condition S1-14 (STP) - Body ground Brake pedal is depressed 10 to 14 V S1-14 (STP) - Body ground Brake pedal is released Below 1 V

NG: Go to step 4
OK: REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY
- INSPECT STOP LIGHT SWITCH
- Disconnect the stop light switch connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance
RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITIONSwitch Condition Tester Connection Specified Condition Switch pin free 1 - 2 1 Ω or less Switch pin pushed 1 - 2 10 kΩ or higher (No continuity)
NG: REPLACE STOP LIGHT SWITCH
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STOP LIGHT SWITCH - SKID CONTROL ECU)
- Disconnect the stop light switch connector and skid control ECU connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance
RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITIONTester Connection Specified Condition S1-14 (STP) - S7-1 (STP) Below 1 Ω - Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance
RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITIONTester Connection Specified Condition S1-14 (STP) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

OK: REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY
