Inspection Procedure

HINT:

  1. INSPECT THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY (THROTTLE ACTUATOR RESISTANCE) 
    1. Disconnect the T6 throttle body assembly connector.
    2. Fig 1: Identifying T6 Throttle Body Assembly Connector

    3. Measure the resistance between the terminals of the throttle body.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTIONS AND SPECIFIED CONDITIONS

      Tester Connections Specified Conditions
      M+ (2) - M- (1) Between 0.3 Ω and 100 Ω at 20°C (68°F)
    4. Reconnect the throttle body connector.

    NG: REPLACE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (THROTTLE ACTUATOR - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the T6 throttle body connector.

    3. Disconnect the E4 ECM connector.
    4. Check the resistance.

      Standard resistance (Check for open) 

      TESTER CONNECTIONS AND SPECIFIED CONDITIONS

      Tester Connections Specified Conditions
      M+ (T6-2) - M+ (E4-4) Below 1 Ω
      M- (T6-1) - M- (E4-3) Below 1 Ω

      Standard resistance (Check for short) 

      TESTER CONNECTIONS AND SPECIFIED CONDITIONS

      Tester Connections Specified Conditions
      M+ (T6-2) or M+ (E4-4) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      M- (T6-1) or M- (E4-3) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
    5. Reconnect the throttle body connector.
    6. Reconnect the ECM connector.

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT THROTTLE BODY 
    1. Check for foreign objects between the throttle valve and the housing.

    NG: CLEAN THROTTLE BODY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT THROTTLE VALVE 
    1. Check if the throttle valve opens and closes smoothly.

    NG: REPLACE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY 

    OK: REPLACE ECM
