Inspection Procedure
- CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS WIRE (ECU MAIN BUS WIRE)
- Disconnect the ECM connector (E5).
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance
RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITIONSTester Connection Condition Specified Condition E5-15 (CANH) - E5-31 (CANL) Ignition switch off 108 to 132 Ω
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN MAIN WIRE OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK ECM POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT
- Check the ECM power source circuit (See ECM POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT
).

C : REPLACE ECM POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT

- Check the ECM power source circuit (See ECM POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT

- CHECK DLC3
- Turn the ignition switch off.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

NG: REPLACE JUNCTION CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS WIRE
- Reconnect the ECM main wire connector to CAN junction connector.
- Disconnect ECM connector (E5).
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance

NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN BUS MAIN WIRE (CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR - ECM)
OK: REPLACE ECM (See REMOVAL )
- CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS WIRES (DLC3)
- Disconnect the DLC3 branch wire connector from the CAN junction connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance

OK: Go to next step
- CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS WIRES (CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR - ECM)
- Reconnect the DLC3 branch wire connector to CAN junction connector.
- Disconnect the ECM main wire connector from the CAN junction connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance

OK: Go to next step
- CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS WIRES (CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR - ECM)
- Reconnect the ECM main wire connector to CAN junction connector.
- Disconnect the ECM connector (E5).
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
