Inspection Procedure

- CHECK STOP LIGHT SWITCH OPERATION
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Turn the tester on.
- Select the following menu items: Chassis / ABS/VSC/ TRAC / Data List.
DATA LIST: ABS
ABS DATA LIST REFERENCETester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Conditions Stop lamp SW Stop light switch / ON or OFF ON: Brake pedal depressed
OFF: Brake pedal released - Check that "Stop lamp SW" is turned ON and OFF when the brake pedal is depressed and released.
OK:
"Stop lamp SW" is turned ON and OFF in accordance with the operation of the brake pedal.
NG: Go to step 3
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK SKID CONTROL ECU TERMINAL VOLTAGE (STP)
- Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
- Measure the voltage.
Standard voltage
VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition A15-10 (STP) - Body ground Brake pedal depressed 8 to 14 V A15-10 (STP) - Body ground Brake pedal released Below 4.0 V

NG: Go to step 5
OK: REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR (See REMOVAL )
- INSPECT FUSE (STOP)
- Remove the STOP fuse from the main body ECU.
- Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance:
Below 1 Ω
NG: CHECK FOR SHORTS IN ALL HARNESSES AND CONNECTORS CONNECTED TO FUSE AND REPLACE FUSE
OK: Go to next step
- INSPECT STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the stop light switch connector.
- Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance
RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition 1-2 Switch pin released Below 1 Ω 3-4 Switch pin released 10 kΩ or higher 1-2 Switch pin pushed in 10 kΩ or higher 3-4 Switch pin pushed in Below 1 Ω Result
RESULT CHARTResult Proceed to OK A NG (Hatchback) B NG (Sedan) C
B: REPLACE STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (for Hatchback) (See REMOVAL )
C: REPLACE STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSEMBLY (for Sedan) (See REMOVAL )
A: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - STOP LIGHT SWITCH)
- Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
- Disconnect the stop light switch connector.
- Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance
RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Specified Condition A15-10(STP) - A13-1 Below 1 Ω

NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- RECONFIRM DTC
- Clear the DTC (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR ).
- Check if the same DTC is output (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR
).
