Inspection Procedure
NOTE:
When replacing the master cylinder solenoid, perform zero point calibration (See CALIBRATION
).
- CHECK STOP LIGHT SWITCH OPERATION
- Check that the stop lights come on when the brake pedal is depressed and go off when the brake pedal is released.
OK
STOP LIGHT SWITCH OPERATION CHARTPedal condition Illumination Condition Brake pedal depressed ON Brake pedal released OFF HINT:
Check the stop light bulbs as they may have burnt out.
NG: Go to step 4
OK: Go to next step
- Check that the stop lights come on when the brake pedal is depressed and go off when the brake pedal is released.
- INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU (STP TERMINAL VOLTAGE)
- Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
- Measure the voltage.
Standard voltage

- RECONFIRM DTC
- Clear the DTC (See DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).
- Check if the same DTC is detected (See DTC CHECK/CLEAR
).

A: REPLACE MASTER CYLINDER SOLENOID (See DISASSEMBLY )
- INSPECT STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the stop light switch connector.
- Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance
RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Condition Specified Condition 1-2 Switch pin released Below 1 Ω 3-4 Switch pin released 10 kΩ or higher 1-2 Switch pin pushed in 10 kΩ or higher 3-4 Switch pin pushed in Below 1 Ω
NG: REPLACE STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - STOP LIGHT SWITCH)
- Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
- Disconnect the stop light switch connector.
- Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance
RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Specified Condition A4-45 (STP2) - A3-1 Below 1 Ω

OK: Go to next step
